Pueblo's progress has been defined by the determination of the generations who settled on the Arkansas River. The devastating flood of 1921 moved the river and changed downtown Pueblo forever. By 1991 a group of citizens led an initiative to develop a riverwalk for Pueblo and again downtown pueblo changed forever.

Today HARP is a 31 acre, $32 million investment and a testament to the resolve of Pueblo's citizens to reinvent themselves. The HARP Foundation is the only organization in Pueblo solely focused on the continued growth and improvement of the Riverwalk. This important mission requires special fundraising focusing on Federal and State grants. To date, the HARP Foundation has raised over $17 million to enhance and expand the Riverwalk - that's in addition to the $12.85 million bond issue passed by Pueblo voters in 1995. The important work of the HARP Foundation - to rebuild downtown Pueblo with a focus on environmental sustainability, encourage job development and growth, and provide educational programming for Pueblo's 8,000 students requires a staff focused solely on the Riverwalk. Your estate contribution will help provide for Pueblo's future through an endowment for the operation of the HARP Foundation, educational funding, or the enhancement of the Riverwalk. The endowments and projects are carefully managed by a 17 member board of community leaders and a 5 member investment committee that works toward ensuring the long term viability of the HARP Foundation.
